A physical trait is a detail about a person’s exterior – something you could see if you were looking through a window. These traits help to describe a person so that the reader can create a picture in their mind. The more precise, the better. Why? Because saying it has four legs and fur is not as useful as saying it has four long legs and dark brown fur. Better yet, it’s curly fur. And it’s so long it reaches the knees. Here are some examples of physical traits.

Make It a Game
In 20 Questions, one person thinks of something, and the other asks yes/no questions until they’re ready to guess what it is. The more questions it takes, the worse it is for the person asking the questions.
In Reverse 20 Questions, one person thinks of something and gives a brief description. The more quickly the other person guesses, the better for the person thinking of something.
Player A: I’m thinking of something with a long neck and long legs.
Player B: Is it a llama?
Player A: No
A better description would be something like this:
Player A: I’m thinking of something that lives in Africa and has a long neck.
Player B: Is it a giraffe?
Player A: YES!
In Reverse 20 Questions, Player A would lose the first game but win the second.
