A character trait gives you a sense of the person. Are they kind? Are they rude? Are they a team player? Are they patient? Sometimes, you need to know a person to name a trait. Other times, you can name a trait by their actions: Do they help little kids or smash spiders with their heel? When you know a character trait, it helps to bring that character alive – to make that person more real to you as a reader.
